The London premiere of Omoni Oboli's The First Lady was held yesterday at Odeon cinema, Greenwich, London, the Mecca of African films in the UK. Gracing the red carpet were the star cast of film director/producer Omoni Oboli alongside Alexx Ekubo, Joseph Benjamin and Anthony Monjaro. In attendance were also ace comedian AY,  Kene Mkparu - Filmhouse Nigeria MD/CEO, Dipo Winsala - Nollywood Movies channel director, Jane Ezenaka - Miss Nigeria UK, Kene Okwuosa, Moses Babatope, Dj Abass and Sam Anwuzia - CEO ZAFAA Awards.

OC Ukeje, Weruche Opia, others shine at When Love Happens London premiere (Photos)



The red carpet shone light a million stars yesterday at the London premiere of When Love Happens. It was a celebrity roll call as stars took turns to 'waltz' the red carpet on a warm London evening at Odeon cinema Greenwich. Stars of the movie Weruche Opia and OC Ukeje led the way on the carpet also 'walked' by the director Seyi Babatope, gospel music star Sammie Okposo, broadcasters Adora Oleh and Priscilla Nwikpo, actors Lateef Lovejoy, Anthony Monjaro and Afrobeats starlet Vicky Sola.

Executive directors Kene Mkparu and Kene Okwuosa alongside Moses Babatope, CEO of Talking Drum Entertainment (UK distributors of When Love Happens) were also in attendance at the event hosted by Dj Abass.

 Ace actor and comedian Okey Bakassi is confirmed to host this years’ edition of Igbo New Yam Festival holding in the city of Cork, Republic of Ireland. The event which comes up on Sunday, 2, August at Cork City Hall will feature Igbo cultural activities which will include dances, music, fashion and the official cutting of the ‘new yam’. 

The Igbo New Yam Festival is an annual event held at the end of the rainy season in early August. The festival is an event symbolizing the conclusion of a harvest and the beginning of the next work cycle. The celebration is a very culturally based occasion, tying individual Igbo communities together as essentially agrarian and dependent on yam.

Glam Africa held a casting call in London three weeks ago to select models for the forthcoming Glam Africa Fashion Night event taking place this Sunday, 22nd Feb in London. Twenty two (22) models out of almost hundred were finally selected by the judging panel, and with the help of public votes, these girls were shortlisted to the final ten all of whom will model the collections of the six designers showcasing at the event.

They are namely Yemi Osunkoya’s Kosibah, Tina Lobondi, Kwame Koranteng, Feyisola Adeyemi’s Simply  Glamourous Fashion (SGF), Larissa Meat’s Larissa Mode and Elizabeth’s Eldimaa Fashion
